DISASTER AID TO RHODE ISLAND RESIDENTS TOPS $36 MILLION

 

WARWICK, R. I. – More than $36 million in grants and loans have been approved for residents of Rhode Island who are following the recommended steps for obtaining disaster assistance from the federal government, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced today.

The Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (RIRRC) stands ready to assist our customers in managing the vast amount of debris expected to be generated from the recent flooding.  This memo will address FEMA/RIEMA expectations, a new disaster debris waste code, cap concerns, and extended disposal hours.

DLT and RIEDC Offer Rapid Response Sessions for Businesses

 

Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training and the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, in conjunction with local chambers of commerce and the Small Business Administration, is holding a series of Rapid Response sessions for area businesses impacted by the recent flooding. Sessions are free of charge, and businesses do not need to be members of their chamber of commerce in order to attend.

NEW ABC TV PILOT TO FILM IN RI

  The Rhode Island Film & TV Office is pleased to announce that a new television pilot, BODY OF EVIDENCE, is slated to start filming in various locations throughout our State in March 2010. Pre-production has begun.   ABC Studios is returning to Rhode Island with a procedural drama that centers on a brilliant and tenacious female Medical Examiner, Megan Hunt. Her background as a neurosurgeon gives her a unique and refreshing crime-solving perspective, one that often puts her at odds with just about everyone who crosses her path.
